Arsenal Pushing for ‘Under the Radar’ Signings as Mikel Arteta Aims to Bolster Squad

Arsenal are said to be pushing for “under the radar” signings this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano in his daily briefing on Substack.

The Gunners have made statement signings in the form of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, both from Manchester City, as well as splashing out on Fabio Vieira from Porto.

However, the signings of Marquinhos and Matt Turner look to be ones for the future, and more of those kind of additions could be the next to come through the doors at the Emirates Stadium.

Winger Still an Option

Romano added that the Gunners have a long-standing interest in Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby.

Newcastle United have also been linked with the Frenchman, but he himself has not ruled out staying in Germany with Leverkusen due to his desire to play in the Champions League.

Romano says Leverkusen have no desire to sell Diaby this summer, although Chronicle’s Ciaran Kelly says they would be open to selling him for the right price.

Arsenal have also been linked with Yeremy Pino, Villarreal’s teenage winger, and Cody Gakpo, who has also drawn interest from Manchester United.

Young Squad

Arsenal have one of the youngest squads in the Premier League and their signings and potential signings indicate that they want to keep it that way.

Mikel Arteta has come under heavy criticism in the past but now seems to have the Gunners on an upward trajectory.

They have started the season with two wins from two, winning away at Crystal Palace before beating Leicester City 4-2 at home.
