Manchester United are working on a deal to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to an exclusive from David Ornstein of The Athletic.

As Ornstein reports, Manchester United are looking to target Rabiot, depending on what happens with the Frankie de Jong transfer.

It is likely that Rabiot may be allowed to leave for a cut-price fee due to the fact he only has one year left on his contract.
The Frenchman played 45 matches across all competitions last season for Juventus, including seven appearances in the Champions League. Over a total of 3,000+ minutes, he picked up two assists and seven yellow cards.
He intially joined La Vecchia Signora on a free transfer, winning Serie A in his first season with the club.
But Rabiot hasn’t featured much this pre-season for Juventus. His 25-minute cameo against Atletico Madrid ended in him needing six stitches after he suffered a head injury. The player confirmed this via an Instagram Story.

What Rabiot Can Bring to Manchester United
Rabiot has shown that he can adapt to new leagues, having left Paris Saint-Germain for Juventus in 2019. The Frenchman has also made 29 caps for his country.
He is a hard-working midfielder, left-footed and 6ft 2in tall. A box-to-box midfielder, Rabiot will be a good engine for United’s midfield, able to recover the ball, keep possession and move his team up the pitch.
However, the player has previously clashed with ex-manager Thomas Tuchel, causing him to be dropped due to discipline issues. So United manager Ten Hag may have to ensure that Rabiot remains ‘reigned in’.
It is perhaps not the option that United first wanted but it seems all depends on the De Jong transfer and whether the club have space to add another midfielder in Rabiot.
