Following talks between Juventus and Bayern Munich’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, a deal between the two clubs began to look more likely, and the latest round of talks have resulted in a verbal agreement being reached between the two clubs. This will delight De Ligt, who had already agreed on personal terms with the German champions.

Following previous talks between the two clubs, Salihamidzic appeared optimistic a deal would be reached. Chelsea were eager to sign the Dutchman, but it became apparent he wanted to go to Germany once Bayern Munich showed their hand.

However, despite the initial disappointment over De Ligt preferring a move to the Bundesliga, the West London club quickly dusted themselves off and signed experienced Senegalese international defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli for £34 million.

What Qualities De Ligt Will Bring to Bayern

At just 22 years old, he has shown maturity in his defensive performances, often being a magnet to any ball played into the penalty area. De Ligt plays with a desire to win every tackle, which makes him a great leader despite his young age.

He has also improved hugely in possession and can play out from the back, in addition to clearing his lines when needed. The improvement in possession has undoubtedly come during his time in Serie A.

De Ligt will bring steel and determination to the Bayern Munich defence. His aerial prowess both attacking and defensively will be vital weapons to the German giants.
