The Women’s Euros 2022 are getting closer and closer. The highlight of the summer is just a couple of weeks away and there will be a lot of huge stars in action.
Seven Stand-Out Players to Keep an Eye Out for at Women’s Euros 2022
Across England, there will be a number of venues in use with the crowning moment being under the infamous Wembley arch.
Here are seven stand-out players to watch out for at this summer’s Women’s Euros 2022…
Ada Hegerberg- Norway
Starting things off with the winner of the inaugural Ballon d’Or, Ada Hegerberg. The forward had a five year hiatus from the Norway squad due to disputes with the governing body regarding the treatment of her and her teammates. She returned to the fold earlier this year and the Norway side is much better for it.

Hegerberg has six Champions League titles to her name as a result of being the spearhead of a superb Lyon squad. Her goals-to-game ratio for both club and country is insane and so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her in the Golden Boot picture. Alongside Hegerberg, there is Barcelona’s Caroline Graham Hansen and Guro Reiten of Chelsea so there are a few talented players in the mix that can push forward through Euro 2022.

Chloe Kelly- England
There are a lot of Manchester City players in the Lionesses squad for Euro 2022, all of whom could come to the fore. Lauren Hemp is the standout at just 21, having won Young Player of the Year in the WSL on four occasions, but is the player on the opposite wing being mentioned here. Chloe Kelly has had her injury woes and so a return to fitness and form in line with the summer is perfectly timed.

Kelly is a few years older than Hemp and her ACL injury last year certainly set her back massively. Her solo Lionesses goal came just a matter of days ago against Belgium in a friendly and this can surely be a huge stepping stone. The likes of Alessia Russo and Nikita Parris will be her competition for minutes next month so Sarina Wiegman certainly doesn’t lack talent in those wide areas.
Lena Oberdorf- Germany
From group A to group B and the Germans will be missing a few key players. Chelsea midfielder Melanie Leupolz is expecting a child and Lyon stalwart Dzsenifer Marozsan is sidelined with an ACL injury. Lena Oberdorf has been tearing it up in the youth age groups as well as with Wolfsburg so despite being just 20, a lot is expected of her next month.
Ona Batlle- Spain
Now to a name that is commonly mispronounced by WSL commentators, Ona Batlle. The Manchester United fullback has been a key player since moving to Leigh Sports Village and she could be a part of something special at Euro 2022. There are ten players from the hugely successful Barcelona team, including the most recent Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas. Batlle makes a huge impact going both ways and that is sure to be optimised by the Spaniards.
Danielle van de Donk- Netherlands
Ada Hegerberg is one of two Lyon players on this list with the second being Danielle van de Donk. Her inclusion here comes from a different angle in that her ability is there for all to see, but she hasn’t had an easy time of it recently. Injuries have been the bulk of her issues and whilst she has now recovered, there have been no minutes on the field.

Van de Donk was a superstar in her several years in an Arsenal shirt but has been unable to replicate that in France. It goes without saying that the Netherlands will be a force to be reckoned with at Euro 2022, from van de Donk to Vivianne Miedema, Dominique Janssen to Lieke Martens. It remains to be seen how big of a role the 30-year-old can play following her injury and lack of playing time.
Hanna Glas- Sweden
Sadly, injuries are a common theme on this list with Hanna Glas having had an ACL tear when playing in her home country of Sweden. That seems to be behind her, all being well, and now she is part of a very promising international setup. At the Olympics last year, Sweden took home silver with Canada pipping them thanks to a penalty shootout. Glas, alongside the likes of Magdalena Eriksson of Chelsea can form a resolute backline.
Sandy Baltimore- France
Finally then to one of the other teams who will fancy their chances of going all the way at Euro 2022, France. The talk surrounding Les Bleues is mainly regarding the absence of captain Amandine Henry as decided by Corinne Diacre. This could signify the changing of the guard with a number of young French talents making the cut whilst Henry and Eugenie Le Sommer have been excluded. PSG trio Sandy Baltimore, Kadi Diani and Marie-Antoinette Katoto along with Delphine Cascarino of Lyon are all in the mix and whilst the latter three are more established at an international level, Baltimore could go up another notch this summer.
