Manchester City Targets Revealed For the Summer

Marc Cucurella Among the Manchester City Targets

Manchester City‘s summer targets will be for certain positions in this transfer window, and they have prioritised two names as viable options. Pep Guardiola’s side are set to approach Brighton for Marc Cucurella with Oleksandr Zinchenko facing a potential departure from the Etihad.

Cucurella arrived at the Amex Stadium in 2021, and is one of the top-performing left-backs in the Premier League.

Brighton will want to keep the 23-year-old, but with City just having won the league, the temptation could be too much for Cucurella. Playing Champions League football is something he could not do with Brighton, and this would allow the Spaniard to flourish and gain invaluable experience.

Kalvin Phillips Also on Their List

The other major Manchester City target for the summer is Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United. An ideal replacement for Fernandinho, the 26-year-old midfielder is still relatively young and has a long time left at the top of the game. A move to one of the biggest clubs in the world would be hard to deny the England International.

The Whites will be desperate to keep their star player, who proved instrumental in keeping them in the Premier League this season. However, City will be looking to make an approach.

Phillips is the preferred replacement, and although City have looked at Frenkie de Jong, it is the Leeds star who is the main target. Leeds United are hopeful of keeping the midfielder but should start preparing for next season without him. City also have competition from rivals Manchester United but are likely to win the race for Phillips’ signature, if he wants to move.
