Major Update on Future of Manchester United Midfielder Andreas Pereira

What Agent of Manchester United Midfielder Has Said

Andreas Pereira’s agent Giuliano Bertolucci told journalist Vene Casagrande in quotes carried by Fabrizio Romano that his client would “return to European football” after negotiations broke down.

Earlier in the year, it was reported that Manchester United had reached an agreement with Flamengo over the sale of the once-capped Brazil international.

However, a lack of urgency in announcing that, did suggest something was not right – that coupled with his lessened role in the team.

It’s now confirmed that the agreement has collapsed.

It’s not clear whether Pereira has a future at Manchester United under new manager Erik ten Hag. He has played 75 games for Manchester United’s first team, scoring four goals and assisting five. Many expect that he has played his last game at Old Trafford.

Flamengo was his fourth loan move away from the Red Devils having had spells with Granada, Valencia and Lazio.

Andreas Pereira’s Time in Brazil

Since joining Flamengo, Andreas Pereira has played 45 games, scoring six goals and providing three assists. In more recent times, he has fallen out of favour in terms of first-team football, often having to settle for a place on the bench.

That said, he did star in Flamengo’s 2-1 win over Fluminense on Sunday night, involved in both goals. He was making his third league start of the season – having been a substitute in his five other appearances.

Pereira was far more involved in last season’s Serie A. Having joined mid-season, he made 18 appearances and was involved in six goals.

Unfortunately for Pereira, many will remember his spell for his error in the Copa Libertadores final which gifted Palmeiras victory in extra time.

The midfielder has also not been helped by the team’s change in manager with Paulo Sousa taking charge ahead of the current season.
