Ousmane Dembele's future

Ousmane Dembele’s future continues to drag on, with new comments from the French winger’s agent. Fabrizio Romano reported: “Ousmane’s future remains open…When it is the right time to make a decision, Ousmane will consider the best option for his future”. Barcelona continue to work on a deal with Dembele but the sides have yet to reach an agreement.

Ousmane Dembele’s Future Still Open

Dembele’s Future With Barcelona

Time is running out for Barcelona and Ousmane Dembele to get a deal done. Dembele played an integral role in the second half of the season for Barcelona when new boss Xavi took over. Xavi was full of praise for the talented Frenchman but did mention players go where they want. It appears that Dembele does not want to stay at Barcelona with the two clubs still off in contract talks.

It is reasonable to assume that if Dembele wanted to stay at Barcelona, both sides would have come to an agreement by now, leaving his future up in the air.

Dembele’s Value

It is easy to see why a club like Barcelona would want a player like Dembele. He is fast both with and without the ball. Can change direction quickly while dribbling and is a good one on one dribbler. Most of all though since Xavi took over, Dembele has been a chance creation machine. According to the official La Liga website, Dembele had 13 assists in 21 matches played – placing him highest on the list. To put that into perspective, Mohamed Salah had the most assists in the Premier League this year with 13 as well while playing significantly more minutes.

Dembele’s Future Options

With the level of production Dembele can produce, top clubs are surely circling waiting for the winger to make his decision. Chelsea have been interested in the past and will likely remain interested with the link between Dembele and Thomas Tuchel from their time at Borussia Dortmund. Paris Saint-Germain also remain an option for the French winger to return home.
