Young Manchester City Forward Not Available for Loan

Manchester City Forward

Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez will be staying around for the 2022/23 season and is not available for loan, City’s chief executive officer Ferran Soriano has confirmed.

City signed Alvarez in January from River Plate. He stayed with the Argentine outfit, on loan, for the remainder of the season.

However, City are making it clear they plan to keep him around for the here and now.

Alvarez and Haaland

City have a high potential front line with the signings of Erling Haaland, 21, and Julian Alvarez, 22. With Gabriel Jesus’ future in doubt, it would make sense to keep both around and hope at least one of them can hit the ground running from the start.

Haaland has already announced himself as a star in Europe and has looked unplayable for Borussia Dortmund. Slotting into a well-drilled Manchester City side suggests he’s unlikely to come to a halt when it comes to goalscoring.

Alvarez comes with a high reputation and has already played for Argentine seven times.

As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City CEO Soriano said: “We’ve had many offers from clubs to loan Julian Alvarez – but he is not going to leave.

“He will do pre-season with us and I think he will stay. Barcelona? No, Barca were not interested.”

Manchester City could well find themselves spoilt for choice in a position they had lacked clarity in since their failed pursuit of Harry Kane last summer.

Sergio Aguero’s exit didn’t hinder them too much though as they successfully defended their Premier League title.
