Madrid Move Makes Sense for Monaco Midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni

Monaco midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni is likely to be on the move this summer with a possible destination being Real Madrid. Madrid will look to strengthen their team after missing out on both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland. The 21-year-old midfielder makes perfect sense for Real. His profile and age make him a top candidate to replace any of the three long-serving midfielders in Real’s starting 11.  Alongside fellow countryman Eduardo Camavinga, Tchouaméni can thrive in a double pivot or as a box-to-box ahead of a more defensive-minded midfielder.

Liverpool Interest

Liverpool lost Georginio Wijnaldum last season to Paris Saint-Germain and have yet to find a natural replacement. Thiago Alcantara previously came in to help settle the midfield and has done an excellent job this season. Unfortunately, both Naby Keita and Thiago Alcantara have been injury-prone throughout their careers. This has hindered Klopp’s team selection having to play the aging James Milner in midfield at times. Aurélien Tchouaméni would come in and provide depth and athleticism that are so desperately lacking from the Liverpool midfield.

PSG Interest

PSG have just pulled off the renewal of Kylian Mbappe. They are overseeing some changes at the club, with head coach Mauricio Pochettino and sporting director Leonardo said to leave. That is likely to represent a change in direction and they might fancy bringing in Mbappe’s French teammate, who holds high potential. Aurélien Tchouaméni has played with France a couple of times and has impressed each time. PSG would also be looking to strengthen their midfield and provide some balance in a top-heavy team.
