Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar believes he will be remaining at the club, according to Fabrizio Romano.

“I think I’m going to stay at Inter. My current contract runs out in June 2023 but I feel Inter will offer me a new deal as they’re happy with my performances,” Skriniar told Sporty.

The player is confident that he will sign a new deal and remain at the club.

Success and More to Come

Skriniar joined Inter in 2017 from Serie A club Sampdoria and has enjoyed great success ever since. Inter paid €20 million and included striker Gianluca Caprari in their deal for Skriniar, so it was clear that they were high on him. In fact, that deal made Skriniar the most expensive Slovakian footballer at the time.

His playstyle is ideal for a centre-back. He has a knack for strong tackles and clearances. Skriniar is often matched up against the opposing teams’ top striker, and more so than not Skriniar comes up as the victor of the duel.

He was absolutely pivotal in Inter’s Scudetto campaign last season. Inter are once again pushing for the Serie A crown, and Skriniar is playing a large role. The club has the highest goal difference in Italy this season and the second-fewest goals allowed behind Napoli and Kalidou Koulibaly.

Skriniar’s achievements haven’t gone unnoticed. He’s the recipient of both the 2019 and 2020 Slovakian Footballer of the Year award.

The Slovakian star is only 27-years-old, so he’s just beginning the prime of his career. Partnered with the experienced Stefan de Vrij and up-and-coming Alessandro Bastoni, Skriniar completes a very talented backline for the Italian giants. Considering the club’s resurgence in recent years, including rising to the top of Serie A and continuously making the Champions League, Inter would be wise to retain Skriniar.
