Premier League Clubs Mostly Kept Apart
The remaining Premier League sides in the world’s oldest football cup competition mainly managed to avoid each other in an intriguing Fifth round draw. Southampton and West Ham United will face off at St Mary’s Stadium with the other all-Premier League tie set to be played out between title challengers Liverpool and relegation candidates Norwich City.
Chelsea face a tricky away tie at Luton Town, who have shown themselves capable of holding their own against the best sides in the Championship this season. Meanwhile, also in the FA Cup’s next round, Manchester City have to travel to Peterborough.
One of the standout fixtures is Tottenham Hotspur having to take on Chris Wilder’s Middlesbrough who knocked out Manchester United in the fourth round after extra time and penalties and it will be a challenging match for Antonio Conte’s Spurs.
Boreham Wood take on Bournemouth in a fourth-round game on Sunday and are the only non-league side left in the competition. If they can pull off one of the biggest giant killings of all time, they would be rewarded with a trip to Everton where they would find Chelsea legend Frank Lampard who recently took over at Goodison Park.
The games will take place during the week, with the first tie being played on Tuesday, March 1st.
