Liverpool Edging Closer to Deal for Fulham Star Fabio Carvalho

Liverpool look set to further boost their attacking options before today’s transfer deadline. Following the signing of Porto winger Luis Diaz, the Reds are now edging closer to a deal to bring Fulham star Fabio Carvalho to Anfield. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed via his Twitter account that a deal for the 19-year-old is into its final stages.

Deal for Fabio Carvalho Almost Done

A deal of around £5 million is close to being completed, according to reports. Carvalho is out of contract this summer having rejected a new deal and Liverpool hope to bring the youngster to Anfield for a price that suits all concerned.

One issue that Liverpool could face is that Fulham, who are chasing a return to the Premier League are under no pressure to cash in on their young star. The London club may feel that they would be better off keeping him for their promotion push and allowing him to leave for free in the summer rather than cash in now.

Liverpool’s Development of Youngsters Could Make This the Best Move for Fulham Star Fabio Carvalho

Should Carvalho need any persuasion to move from London to Liverpool, he may only have to look at the Anfield club’s record of developing its youngsters and making them into first-team stars. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, and recently Harvey Elliott and Kaide Gordon amongst others have all benefited from Liverpool’s policy of developing youngsters instead of instantly buying new stars. Bringing talented youngsters through the ranks and into the first-team on a regular basis has been a big part of Jurgen Klopp’s tenure at Liverpool.

Carvalho made his debut last season as Fulham were relegated from the Premier League to the Championship. He impressively began the new season scoring three goals in his first five games as free-scoring Fulham look for an instant return to England’s top flight. So far in his short career, Carvalho has scored eight goals in 23 senior appearances.
