Dusan Vlahovic Joins Juventus

One of the biggest deals of the January transfer window is coming to a close as Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Juventus have landed the signature of Dusan Vlahovic.  The Serbian striker garnered a lot of interest but it is the Turin giants who have beaten others to the punch for a reported fee of €75 million.  Romano’s tweet notes:

“Total agreement with player, agents and Fiorentina. €75m fee add ons included. €7m net salary per season.” and that the player will sign “..his long-term contract soon”. Romano later added that the Dusan Vlahovic will be in Torino for his medical on Friday.

High Demand

A number of teams have been linked with Vlahovic over the past few months.  La Liga side Atletico Madrid reportedly had interest, then Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur joined the race, with their north London rivals Arsenal having shown strong interest most recently.  Juventus have secured the talents of the 21-year-old striker in a move that they will hope can make him their top marksman for years to come.

Impressing in Italy

After a short stint in the senior team for FK Partizan, Vlahovic was signed to Serie A side Fiorentina in 2018.  The youngster took time to find his footing but turned heads in the 2020/21 season when he won the Serie A Best Young Player award after scoring 21 goals in the season. His impressive form carried over into this season where he has an impressive 17 goals in 21 Serie A games, he even matched Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for most Serie A goals scored in a calendar year in 2021 by scoring 33 times that year.  Vlahovic ends his stint with Fiorentina with 49 goals in 108 games, 41 of which have come in his last 64 appearances for the club. In addition to his club exploits, Dusan Vlahovic has scored 7 times in 14 caps for Serbia at international level.
