400+ Appearances

Azpilicueta has made 452 appearances for The Blues. His loyalty to the club cannot be questioned. As club captain though, it might be expected that there would be greater security over his current contract. The 32-year-old is approaching the time for Chelsea to table a new deal, but he isn’t concerned by the fact they haven’t yet.

He is quoted by Fabrizio Romano as saying: “I feel I have the trust and confidence of the club. Eventually, the moment will come, but I am fully focused on hopefully getting as many trophies as we can and then we will see. I’m really committed – you know”

Azpilicueta remains as key as any player at Stamford Bridge. He has made 23 appearances so far this season and helped the club to many titles, including two Premier League’s, three FA Cup’s and the Champions League they are looking to defend this season – they face Ligue 1 side Lille in the Last 16.

Mr Chelsea

Azpilicueta has been at Chelsea for almost ten years and remained a constant figure in the team for all of that period. His efforts may have gone underappreciated by the Spanish national team – for whom he is capped 36 times – but in the Premier League, he is almost a cert for ‘team of last century’ and has always been regarded as a fantastic defender.

311 of his 452 Chelsea appearances have come in the Premier League. He has scored 14 goals and assisted 56 in all competitions throughout his stay, operating mostly on either side at full-back/wing-back or as a centre-back.

Just as the professional he is, his focus is where it should be – on the pitch – as opposed to when a new contract will be offered to him.
