Lucas Digne Wants to Leave Everton

Lucas Digne has reportedly decided that he wants to leave Everton, and is likely to move to a fellow Premier League club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the left-back will decide his next destination in due course. Chelsea have been linked with a move for the France international, but are yet to open talks with Everton over the player’s signature.

Lucas Digne: France International Pushing For Everton Exit

Stamford Bridge Move Has Been Touted as a Possibility

Digne’s desire to leave Everton is the latest in a series of mounting problems at Goodison Park. Despite a bright start to the season, the form of Rafael Benitez’s side has tailed off dramatically, and the Toffees currently find themselves in 15th-place in the Premier League.

Benitez has said that now is not the time for panic, and has backed himself to reverse the club’s fortunes on the pitch. However, it now appears that he will have to do so without the services of Digne, especially if the 28-year-old is able to find a new club in the January transfer window.

Chelsea may well be tempted to make an official approach for Digne in the coming days, after Thomas Tuchel’s side lost England international Ben Chilwell to a serious knee injury that could see him miss the rest of the season.

Newcastle United Not an Option For Digne

Digne is seeking pastures new after three years of impressive performances for Everton, the club he joined from Barcelona in an £18 million deal in 2018.

Despite rumours linking the player with a move to Newcastle United, it is clear that Digne will not be signing for the St James’ Park outfit as Eddie Howe looks to save the club from relegation in the second half of the season.

The Magpies have agreed a deal to bring right-back Kieran Trippier back to the Premier League from Atletico Madrid, but do not consider Digne to be an option to bring in on the left-side of their defence.
