Paris Saint-Germain Interested in Franck Kessie

Franck Kessie

According to ESPN Transfer Talk, Paris Saint-Germain are beginning to have an interest in Franck Kessie of AC Milan. ESPN mention that Tottenham Hotspur have an interest as well, although PSG are already moving forward with contract proposals.

Kessie is deemed as one of Milan’s top players. He’s instrumental to everything the club does. With that being said, ongoing contract negotiations have not been fruitful. Kessie’s contract expires in less than a year. PSG hope to make another miracle free transfer move, mirroring the exact way they poached Gianluigi Donnarumma from Milan. Reports indicate that PSG are offering Kessie a contract of €9 million per season, which is €2.2 million more than Milan’s latest proposal.

It’s a known fact that Kessie enjoys being a part of Milan, but money always talks. ESPN report that there’s a possibility that Kessie and his agent are using PSG as leverage, but that remains to be seen.

The Player and the Fit

Kessie is everything a team wants in a midfielder and more. Two of his best traits are his physicality and stamina. Kessie hangs in there with the top midfielders in Europe and often outplays them. He dispossesses others with ease but is nearly impossible to dispossess himself. His ability to play all 90 minutes is impeccable as well.

Beyond that, Kessie is a box-to-box star. He always tracks back to aid in defence. When he’s charging forward with the ball he moves forward like a tank, and from there has a keen sense to find open teammates and play perfect balls. He also scored 11 goals in Serie A last year, albeit penalties. With that being said, he’s a master from the spot and it shows how much confidence his team and manager have in him.

PSG, with all of the star power they have amassed, can still look for improvements in their midfield. It’s likely that the players who will receive the most minutes this season in this position group are Marco Verratti, Georginio Wijnaldum, Danilo Pereira, Leandro Paredes, Idrissa Gueye and Ander Herrera. The majority of these players are in the latter stages of their careers, while Kessie is just 24. Kessie would become an immediate starter, most likely alongside Verratti and Wijnaldum, while bossing the midfield through strength, precision, and intelligence.

The Ivorian is on the verge of truly making a name for himself this season with Milan back in the Champions League. Suitors are emerging left and right for his signature.
