Connor Roberts Completes Burnley Move

Connor Roberts

Swansea City right-back Connor Roberts has officially completed his move to Burnley. The deal adds to Burnley’s club record deal for Maxwell Cornet a few days ago, and continues their late push for reinforcements. For some time, it looked as though the Clarets were ready to sit back and do nothing this summer. When Cornet became an option, however, they didn’t wait for one second before pursuing and completing a deal.

Sean Dyche and the Burnley hierarchy have acted just as swiftly to soon Connor Roberts from Swansea. Usually mainstay in the Swans’ side, new manager Russel Martin has been unable to use the Welshman thanks to the injury he sustained at Euro 2020. Close to a return, however, Roberts still sealed his move, and will return a Premier League player.

Burnley Seeking Survival

As each year goes by, Burnley’s survival chances look slimmer and slimmer. Yet, year in, year out, Sean Dyche manages to get the very best out of it. Now, with new signings to pick from, he should be able to keep the Clarets up once again. Cornet, in particular, should add something different at Turf Moor.

Unlike Dwight McNeil, Cornet will bring some flair to a relatively robust Burnley side. It is no secret that Burnley don’t play the most attractive football in the league, but, it gets the job done. The likes of Roberts should slot straight in. Meanwhile, Cornet, adding something different as mentioned before, may take more time, but will eventually prove useful for Dyche.

As for Swansea, losing Roberts will be a huge blow. Russell Martin didn’t even get to see the right-back play for his new side following his injury for Wales. He would have been a key part to any Swansea success, but has instead chosen Premier League football with Burnley.
