Manchester United to Send Amad Diallo on Loan

Amad Diallo

Manchester United will send winger Amad Diallo on loan before the end of the transfer window, according to Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News.

The 19-year-old joined from Serie A side Atalanta in January for £37 million. Last season, the Ivorian made only eight appearances for United, starting just twice.

He will join fellow right-sided forward Facundo Pellistri in getting valuable game time elsewhere with the young Uruguayan recently joining Alaves on loan.

Amad Seen as One for the Future

After the club refused to meet Borussia Dortmund’s valuation for Jadon Sancho last season, they signed Amad Diallo on deadline day last October. However, with the arrival of Sancho and Jesse Lingard returning from his loan spell at West Ham, it is very unlikely that he will get the game time he needs to continue his development.

The Ivorian badly needs more first-team experience at a high level having made just 12 appearances in senior football. He has impressed when he has played. One of the highlights being his goal against AC Milan in last season’s Europa League. He is clearly a top talent, and with the aforementioned starting place, he could thrive before eventually reaching his increasing potential.

Manchester United Face Leeds United on Opening Day

Manchester United begin their new Premier League campaign against Leeds United at Old Trafford on Saturday, August 14. Striker Edinson Cavani will almost certainly miss out as he is on an extended break after the Copa America.

Jesse Lingard is also a doubt after he tested positive for covid-19 last week. Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford could be sidelined until October as he undergoes shoulder surgery, dealing Manchester United a major blow in any title pursuit.

Anthony Martial, Daniel James, and Mason Greenwood are all available for the Premier League season opener, however.
