The Daily Telegraph’s Mike McGrath has reported that Lazio want Andreas Pereira on a permanent deal following his spell on loan with the club last season from Manchester United.

Lazio Want Andreas Pereira

Manchester United Player Open to Lazio Return

Pereira spent the whole of the 2020/21 Premier League season on loan at Lazio and is now reported to be keen on being reunited with the club. He did not set the world alight with his performances whilst in Rome but wants to have another shot in Serie A and Lazio are also said to be keen on bringing the player back to the club.

United Struggles

Much was expected from Pereira when he joined the Old Trafford club in 2014 from PSV Eindhoven, but his career has stalled, leading to other loan spells at Granada and Valencia prior to his time with Lazio. He would now like to go back to Rome and has said he can prove himself.

He said: “I know I could do even better if I was given more space. Even the fans agree, they wrote me about it on social networks. At Lazio I have always given my best in the time I was granted. I think my performance could be better if I had more minutes and more freedom to play.”

Form

Pereira made 33 appearances in all competitions at Lazio, scoring just one goal as he struggled to find form in a 3-5-2 system that was favoured by Simone Inzaghi.

With Maurizio Sarri now taking over at Lazio, who prefers a 4-3-3 system, Pereira feels this would be an opportune time to return and deliver on the promise that he has shown in small periods but not as yet to a consistent enough level to be considered a key player for Manchester United.
