Italian Club to Re-Sign Ivan Illic After an Impressive Loan Spell

Hellas Verona are closing in on signing 20-year-old midfielder Ivan Ilic from Manchester City. The Italian side have reportedly made an €8 million bid to Manchester City for the Serbian. Ivan Ilic had spent the last season on loan in Serie A with Gialloblu.

Ivan Ilic has never played a minute in a Manchester City jersey since signing for the Citizens back in 2017. The Serbian spent each of his last four seasons on loan with different clubs. Ilic had spells with Red Star Belgrade, Zemun, NAC Breda before moving on loan to Hellas Verona last season.

At Verona, the midfielder helped Gialloblu finish tenth in the Italian league. He was an integral part of the starting line-up and made 30 appearances. The Serbian also scored three goals last season.

Hellas Verona have been quietly dealing with their transfers so far this season. The Italian side have signed most of the players who arrived at Verona last season on permanent deals. Hellas Verona have already signed Antonin Barak, Giangiacomo Magnani and Federico Ceccherini, who spent on loan season at Verona, to permanent deals.

Hellas Verona Enquires About Joshua Zirkzee

The Gialloblu are also reportedly looking to add Bayern Munich forward Joshua Zirkzee on loan. The Dutch U21 international moved to Parma on loan last season, but an LCL injury limited him to just four appearances in Serie A.

The Italian side are not the only one in the race to sign the 20-year-old. Belgium giants RSC Anderlecht are also reportedly keen to add the forward to their squad this season.
