Crystal Palace and Leeds United are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher on loan, according to Sam Inkersole of Football.London. However, Gallagher is keen to impress Thomas Tuchel, and try to force his way into the first team squad.

Another Loan Move for Conor Gallagher?

Conor Gallagher is currently training with the Chelsea first-team in their pre-season training camp in Ireland. However, with Jorginho, N’golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic all ahead of him in the pecking order, it will take some doing for Gallagher to challenge for a first team spot.

Crystal Palace and Leeds United have both been in contact with Chelsea over a potential loan move. Gallagher reportedly FaceTimed new Palace boss Patrick Vieira this week, during Chelsea’s training camp. Meanwhile, he held talks with Leeds a few weeks ago, who reportedly put together an impressive presentation, to convince Gallagher to join Elland Road.

Should he join either of these clubs, he will link up with a former teammates in the process. Palace recently signed centre-back Marc Guehi for £18 million, whilst Leeds snapped up another promising Chelsea youngster in Lewis Bate, who will initially link-up with the U23s.

Gallagher Wants to Fight for His Spot at Chelsea

Despite the reported interest, Conor Gallagher seems keen to impress Thomas Tuchel, using pre-season as an opportunity to fight for his Chelsea place. In an interview on the club website, Gallagher said: “I’ve definitely improved as a player in the past two years and a lot of that is down to the four managers I’ve played under and their different styles of play. I’ve just loved every minute of it and I want to push on even more now.”

Despite his intentions, Gallagher also wants to carry on playing regular first-team football, and doesn’t want to warm the Stamford Bridge bench. It will be interesting to see where the midfielder ends up playing this season.
