Leon Goretzka Emerging as Manchester United Target

Manchester United target

According to Christian Falk of Sport BILD, Leon Goretzka has emerged as a Manchester United target following talks taking place between his agent and the Premier League club. The Bayern Munich midfielder has just one year left on his current deal, leaving him on course to become a free agent next summer.

With that in mind, the power is quite easily in Goretzka’s hands. If he wants to push for a move now, it will more than likely be given the green light. Likewise, if Bayern are desperate to keep the German, he has the power to demand an increased salary package.

It leaves the Bundesliga champions in a difficult spot, to say the least, and if Manchester United pursue a deal, Bayern may have no choice but to reluctantly accept the fee.

Where Would a Deal Leave Paul Pogba

If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer welcomes Leon Goretzka through the Old Trafford doors this summer, it will come at a hefty price. And with Jadon Sancho already signed and possibly Raphael Varane to come, where would the Red Devils find space in their budget?

Paul Pogba is always linked with a move away, it has almost become a formality as each window passes by, and this summer is no different. Like Goretzka, the Frenchman holds the power in his hands with his deal expiring next summer.

It seems likely that the former Juventus man will stay, but if the right offer comes in, United may be forced to consider it as they pursue Goretzka. But the big question is, do they need the German? He is a box-to-box midfielder who has proven that he can get in amongst the goals, but an improvement to Pogba? After Euro 2020, it’s an easy no.

So, although talks with Goretzka’s agent have taken place, don’t expect a deal to be easy this summer as Manchester United pursue another target.
