Football Transfer News: Izzy Brown, Oliver Casey and More

Welcome to the latest instalment of Football Transfer News from Last Word On Football. Here, we bring you details of all of the day’s completed deals for Tuesday, June 22 as clubs look to shape their squads ahead of the new season.

Football Transfer News: Izzy Brown, Oliver Casey and Kayne Ramsay

Brown Makes Preston Switch

Izzy Brown has completed a permanent move to Championship side Preston North End following the expiration of his deal with European champions Chelsea.

The 24-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the Lilywhites and will link up with his new club on June 1.

Despite being at Chelsea since 2013, Brown made just one appearance for the club. Instead, his experience has come in the form on loans, making over 80 appearances in the Championship for the likes of Leeds United, Huddersfield Town and Luton Town.

Speaking to the club website about the move, Brown said: “I’m over the moon to finally get this done. It’s been in the works for a couple of weeks now, but I’m absolutely delighted to be here.

“I finally feel like it’s the place where I can have a home and just be happy playing football, doing what I want to do every day, doing something that I love.

“Preston’s a proper family club and ever since I’ve been here all the staff have made me feel so welcome, and everyone’s so lovely around the place, so I feel like hopefully it can get the best out of me in this atmosphere.”

Casey Signs for Blackpool

Championship newcomers Blackpool have signed highly-rated Leeds defender Oliver Casey on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old came through the academy at Leeds and make three appearances for their first team.

This is Casey’s first spell away from Leeds in any capacity, so all of his experience so far has come in the youth ranks at Leeds.

On the move, Casey said: “I’m really excited to get started. Once I knew of Blackpool’s interest, I was really keen to get this done.

“I’ve been at Leeds for 10 years, but I feel now is the right time to move on and make the next step in my career.”

Ramsey Makes Loan Move

Southampton defender Kayne Ramsey has joined League One side Crewe Alexandra on loan for the 2020/21 season.

Ramsey, who has spent a lot of time in and around the Saints’ first team recently, has made four appearances for the Premier League side and has also captained the U18 side.

He has previously spent time in League One having had a loan spell with Crewe’s near neighbours Shrewsbury Town in the 2019/20 season.

Ramsey said of the move: “I’m extremely happy (to have signed). I have wanted to do this for a while now and have been dying to get out and get minutes. I want to show everyone what I can do and hopefully I can come to Crewe and play 40 plus games and get cracking.

“I knew about Crewe’s interest two or three weeks ago and when I knew of their interest I knew it was the club for me. They have sold two full-backs to the Championship last season and as a right-back myself I thought it would help my development and Southampton said the same.”
