Jack Grealish is Training With Aston Villa Again

Could Be in Contention to Play Against Fulham

The England international has been out of action for The Villans since February, and Dean Smith’s side have had a poor run of form while its captain has been stuck on the sidelines.

Villa posted a promising video of Grealish’s return to training today on their website, giving fans hope of a speedy recovery.

Dean Smith had previously mentioned that he was hopeful of Grealish playing against Fulham on Easter Sunday at 16:30.

This is looking more likely now as the 25-year-old will have the entire week to regain fitness and prepare for his potential return this weekend.

Can Grealish’s Return Rescue Villa’s Form?

Without his star player available for selection, Dean Smith has seen his team suffer a loss in quality while attacking. Before Grealish’s injury, Villa had averaged three shots per game more than they have done in the games since his setback in February.

While the absence of Grealish is undoubtedly affecting Villa’s form, the Birmingham outfit have been struggling for results since late January. Losing 3-2 to Burnley at Turf Moor seemed to slow them down after they had been superb throughout the first half of the season.

Villa’s defensive performances have not been significantly worse in this period, although teams like Sheffield United, Newcastle United, and Wolves have helped them not concede by being offensively underwhelming.

While the Villains may not be suffering simply because of Grealish’s injury, there is no doubt his return can spark a turnaround in form. Smith has built his side around the star man, and he is out in front by a distance at the club in terms of stats like passes received, carries into the opposition box, and assists.

He can be the spark that helps Villa regain the form that saw impressive results earlier this season, like their 7-2 victory over Liverpool.
