Patrick van Aanholt Could Make Late Move Away From Crystal Palace

Van Aanholt Palace

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Patrick van Aanholt could make a late move away from Crystal Palace after becoming unhappy. The left-back has struggled for consistent game time this season since falling out-of-favour to the recently emerged Tyrick Mitchell.

In truth, it hasn’t been the best of seasons for the Dutchman, who has failed to perform to the standards of previous campaigns. His failure has been Mitchell’s opportunity, with the youngster taking full advantage of the situation.

Arsenal Could Make Move

According to The Athletic, Arsenal could make a late move for the left-back with a lack of options in that position, leaving them with just Cedric to play in the left-back spot.

Van Aanholt would certainly provide them with a solution to their left-back conundrum, and would likely come cheap. The Palace defender has the experience in abundance to fill in for the likes of Kieran Tierney and Bukayo Saka at left-back.

Arsenal are yet to enquire about the full-back, but, admittedly, the deal would suit all parties. Van Aanholt would be getting his move; Arsenal would be getting a reinforcement, and Palace would be waving goodbye to an unhappy player.

The squad depth a signing like the Dutchman would provide would do Arsenal a world of good in their pursuit of European football. As things stand, the Gunners look on course to make the Europa League spot.

In the Europa League, that is when a player like Van Aanholt comes to the fore-filling in for others when rotation occurs.

For now, although a late move is reportedly on the cards, the Dutchman is still a Crystal Palace player. And, as the deadline approaches, if he wants to make a move, he must act quickly in order to get it.
