Newcastle United’s DeAndre Yedlin has just six months left on his current deal. The American has been free to negotiate with other clubs and after months of speculation, his decision appears to be made. According to ESPN’s Tom Hamilton, the defender will join Galatasaray.

The Right-Back Will Travel to Turkey for Medical

Yedlin has always made it clear that his preference was to stay at Newcastle. However, he is no longer willing to hang around to be offered a new deal.

Yedlin has remained professional and fought his way back into the Newcastle side. With Javier Manquillo and Emil Krafth suffering from COVID-19, the former Tottenham Hotspur man became a regular choice in defence for Steve Bruce.

Both Newcastle and Galatasaray have been stuck in negotiations for much of this week. However, the Super Lig side’s latest approach has reportedly been agreed. Yedlin has been granted permission to sign for Galatasaray in this window

According to ESPN’s Tom Hamilton, once Yedlin passes his medical in Turkey, he will join the club on a deal based on future fees set around performances and appearances.

This is a great deal for the Turkish giants who are currently sat third in the league. They are signing an experienced full-back who, at only 27 years of age has a lot of time left in the game.

Newcastle are expecting to be busy in the final days of the window. Despite Yedlin’s departure, they still have two right-back options in the squad. As they look to avoid relegation, recruitment is key for Steve Bruce and his side. With Yedlin’s departure reportedly imminent, they must use the funds gained to propel themselves away from the dreaded drop and into the comforts of mid table.

The 2-0 win at Goodison Park was a step in the right direction. Now, they must build on that.
