AFC Wimbledon Sign Striker Corie Andrews From Non-League Kingstonian

AFC Wimbledon have signed prolific striker Corie Andrews from non-league Kingstonian. The striker has joined on a permanent deal.

He is Wimbledon’s fourth signing in this transfer window as they look to boost their survival prospects in League One.

As well as boosting their squad, Wimbledon are on the hunt for a new manager after sacking Glyn Hodges on Saturday.

AFC Wimbledon Sign Striker Corie Andrews From Kingstonian

Andrews Scored Nine Goals in 11 Games for the Non-League Side

The talented 23-year-old striker is a product of the Crystal Palace academy. He spent a decade with the Eagles before being released by the club.

Andrews has plied his trade in non-league and now gets an opportunity to showcase his abilities in the Football League. The striker has played for Margate, Whyteleafe and Kingstonian.

His spell with Kingstonian has proved a fruitful one. The striker bagged nine goals in 11 eleven games before the Isthmian League was suspended. He marked his final game for Kingstonian with a hat-trick against Haringey Borough.

Andrews is joining a Wimbledon side in a real rough patch. The club are managerless after sacking Glyn Hodges after defeat to bitter rivals Milton Keynes Dons on Saturday. That defeat took their winless run to 13 matches and now the search begins to replace Hodges.

Andrews’ arrival will add some much-needed firepower to the Wimbledon attack. He will be relishing the chance to play in the Football League and test himself. The striker will link up with current forwards Joe Piggott and Ryan Longman. Both are struggling to score in recent weeks and Andrews arrival will add further pressure on them.

Andrews could make his Wimbledon debut against Oxford United in their Papa John’s trophy quarterfinal game on Tuesday. His league debut could come against Wigan Athletic next weekend.

Caretaker Manager Mark Robinson Looking Forward to Working With the Talented Striker

Speaking to the AFC Wimbledon website about their new signing, Mark Robinson said: “I have only seen Corie train a couple of times and as he was signed before Saturday’s game all I can say right now is what a fantastic opportunity the young man has been given.

“I look forward to seeing how he attacks the opportunity to forge a career at our club.”
