Defensive Cover

Poole will provided defensive cover and competition to an Imps side currently sitting top of the League One table.

The Welshman is versatile in defence and can operate at both centre-back and at right-back. He has made 22 appearances for MK Dons so far this season, scoring four goals.

Poole’s versatility will help suit the style that City manager Michael Appleton looks to operate at the LNER Stadium. The 45-year-old looks to sign players who can play in multiple positions, and Poole is the latest arrival to do that.

However, the 22-year-old made initially operate as cover for TJ Eyoma at right-back. The Tottenham Hotspur loanee is currently the first-choice right-back in the squad and does not look like he will be displaced.

Despite his young age, Poole is experienced in the Football League. He started his career with Newport County, before moving to Manchester United in 2015.

However, he only made one appearance during his time at Old Trafford, and after moves to Northampton Town and a return to Newport on loan, he made the move to Milton Keynes in 2019.

What Was Said?

Speaking about his move to the official Lincoln City website, Poole said: “I am delighted, the club is a project I wanted to be a part of.

“I can play in a number of positions, I like to play forward from the back and the football the manager plays suits me, I am really excited to get going. I want to get playing and help the club do well.”

Michael Appleton added: “I am delighted that we have been able to bring Regan to the Club.

“He’s a talented young player who again gives us options but ticks a lot of boxes in what we are looking for, he’s a very athletic player and someone who is comfortable on the ball.

“At 22-years-old, Regan has plenty of room to improve even further, and I am really looking forward to working with him.”
