Jorge Grant

Lincoln City have confirmed that Jorge Grant has agreed a new two-and-a-half-year deal, seeing him remain with the club until 2023.

Jorge Grant to Remain With Lincoln City Until

Pivotal Player

Grant has arguably been the Imps’ Player of the Season, registering 11 goals and five assists so far this season.

The 26-year-old has been most effective from a deeper central role so far this season, having started his career predominantly as a winger. His control and quick-thinking on the ball has seen him help Lincoln become one of the best counter-attacking sides in League One this season.

Despite his deeper role, Grant still offers a goalscoring threat for Michael Appleton’s side. The former Nottingham Forest man has been Lincoln’s free-kick and penalty taker this season, but has also been effective from open play, as seen with his superb long-range effort against Forest Green Rovers in the first round of the FA Cup.

Grant has made 71 appearances in total during his time at the LNER Stadium, and tying him down to a new deal will be hugely important for the Imps in their push for promotion to the Championship.

What Was Said?

Speaking about his move to the official Lincoln City website, Grant said: “I am delighted, there is huge ambition at the club and the whole structure we have is something I am happy to be a part of.

“I am thankful that the Gaffer has pushed me to make the most out of my potential. It won’t stop now because I want to carry on doing what I have been doing this season.

“I am really happy at the moment.”

Michael Appleton added: “We are delighted to keep Jorge at the club, he has played an important role this season and it is a pleasure to work with him.

“He has really grown in stature as a player and has put in some outstanding performances in a number of positions.

“Jorge has also shown determination and a high level of maturity in the dressing room and has led by example when given the captain’s armband. He is a real asset to this football club, and we will continue to work hard to achieve our goals.”
