Blackburn Rovers Step up Harry Pickering Interest

Harry Pickering Blackburn

Blackburn Rovers are once again showing an interest in Crewe Alexandra defender Harry Pickering after the Championship club saw a bid rejected earlier on in the window, reports Lancs Live.

With the transfer window coming to its concluding stages, the Lancashire club are reportedly stepping up their interest in the young full-back.

Blackburn Will Have to Submit an Improved Bid for Harry Pickering

The reported rejected bid earlier on in the window has certainly not scared Blackburn off, with Crewe boss David Artell suggesting that their initial price was below their valuation of the 22-year-old. Pickering has a release clause of £650,000, and it seems a figure nearer that region will secure the signing of the left-back.

The end of the January transfer window is now fast approaching and Rovers will have to act quickly if they want to strike a deal with the League One side.

A left-back has been of high priority for Tony Mowbray’s side, who will see Amari Bell’s contract run out, and Barry Douglas return to Leeds at the end of the season. After their rejected bid, the pursuit for Pickering was then expected to be carried on in the summer.

However, Sheffield Wednesday have since reportedly made a bid for the Crewe man and are seemingly forcing the Lancashire side to take action imminently.

Harry Pickering Continuing to Progress at Crewe Alexandra

It does not seem that the 22-year-old is relying on a move to the second tier of English football, as he is continuing to make steady progress in Cheshire. He has become an integral part of Artell’s side in his debut season in League One and is a part of a very impressive Crewe side.

There may be a number of high-quality Championship suitors, but they are expected to all be there at the end of the season too, meaning it may be better for Pickering to continue gaining first-team experience at Crewe before a big summer move.
