Third Loan Spell During Chelsea Tenure

Danny Drinkwater has struggled to embed himself since his move to Chelsea in 2017. The former Leicester City man has managed just 23 appearances for the Blues and is set for his third loan spell away from the club.

However, the loans spells have also been difficult for the former England international. Drinkwater joined Burnley in but managed just two appearances.

A move to Aston Villa followed, but the 30-year-old turned out just four times for Dean Smith’s side.

Both the midfielder and club will be hoping to find regular game time in Turkey ahead of a return to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Who Are Kasimpasa?

Kasimpasa are a Turkish club playing in the Süper Lig. They currently sit 15th in the top flight, just six points clear of the relegation places.

The club won back to back promotions from 3.Liga to the Süper Lig between 2004 and 2006 but were relegated in their first season back in the top flight. They returned to the top division in 2012.

Drinkwater Before Chelsea

At Leicester, Danny Drinkwater had become one of the most in-demand midfielders in the Premier League. The 30-year-old formed a formidable partnership with fellow Blue N’Golo Kante, but the former has failed to make the same impact as the Frenchman.

From 23 appearances, Drinkwater has managed just one goal for Chelsea. It came during the Blues’ 5-0 win over Stoke City in the last game of 2017.

Drinkwater won the FA Cup the following season, but his time at Stamford Bridge has been one of disappointment.
