RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano won’t be sealing a transfer away from the club this month, despite interest from several top teams.

Dayot Upamecano WIll Not Seal Transfer This Month

Wanted by European Giants

According to The Guardian, the defender is a wanted man and several top teams including Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are all keen to sign the player.

The report states that several sides have already enquired about Upamecano only to be told that he will not be allowed to leave the Bundesliga side on a transfer this month.

It means that even though they can keep the 22-year old for the remainder of the season, they’ll lose the player for a much smaller fee at the end of the campaign, as he has a release clause.

Release Clause in Contract

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Frenchman has a £37.4 million release clause in his deal – significantly lower than a fee that they could fetch for him during this month’s January transfer window.

That release clause only comes into play at the end of the current campaign and with the level of interest in the defender, it is likely that a number of top teams will be eager to trigger it and try to sign him as soon as they can.

Upamecano started his professional career in Austria with Liefering, before being signed by RB Salzburg.

After impressing for them as a youngster, he was snapped up by Leipzig in Germany.

Since then, the 22-year old has gone from strength to strength and has quickly established himself as not only one of the club’s best players but one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga.

It’s these showings that have caught the eye of some of Europe’s biggest teams and they’ll be desperate to try and secure his signature for the smaller fee at the end of the season.
