REPORT: Manchester United Want to Complete Amad Diallo Transfer in January

Manchester United are hoping to welcome Amad Diallo to the club in January. The Red Devils’ scouts have been tracking Diallo’s progress since 2016 and they are keen to finally seal the deal. The transfer for the 18-year-old is subject to completion of a medical, approval of personal terms, and work permit.

Manchester United and Atalanta Still Discussing the Amad Diallo Transfer

Atalanta Manager Gian Piero Gasperini Hopeful of Keeping the Young Talent on Loan Until June

The news broke on Twitter that Gasperini is working to keep the youngster on loan. Fabrizio Romano Tweeted: “Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini announced today in a press conference that he is ‘working to keep Amad Diallo on loan until June.”

However, both Diallo and Manchester United are keen to complete the transfer. Nonetheless, Atalanta’s pleas will likely hinder the transfer for a few more days.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expecting big things from the youngster but has stated Diallo will have time to adapt. As reported in the Manchester Evening News, Solskjaer said: “We’re waiting for other paperwork. I can’t see any obstacles, really, so hopefully, he’ll be with us in not too long.”

He added: “He’s shown a few times his qualities but he has to learn that playing in England is a different type of football, so we’ll give him time to develop.”

Solskjaer is keen to find more young players to secure the future of the club. 18-year-old, Facundo Pellistri, is another player that signed under Solskjaer. Pellistri is plying his trade in Manchester’s under-23s and Diallo will likely follow suit.

Is This Transfer an Alternative to Jadon Sancho?

Amad Diallo is by no means a finished product but he is a rising star. With very little first-team experience, this transfer is a gamble but one that could pay off. Diallo has only played five games for Atalanta in total, scoring on his debut against Udinese in October 2019.

However, while Jadon Sancho continues to elude Manchester United, they are looking for alternatives. The Red Devils may have found what they were looking for in Diallo. Paying what is a moderate fee for United, £19 million may be a bargain if Diallo fulfils his potential. Clearly, Manchester United scouts believe Diallo is worth the gamble. As per the Metro report, an initial fee of £19 million has been agreed upon. Additionally, depending on circumstance, the fee may rise to £36 million.

At any rate, the starlet will be joining at a perfect time as Manchester United continue their revival under Solskjaer.
