REPORT: Preston North End Midfielder Ben Pearson a Transfer Target for Celtic

Preston North End’s Ben Pearson has reportedly been in touch with Celtic over a potential transfer to the Scottish club, according to Anthony Joseph for Sky Sports.

Celtic Eager to Secure Ben Pearson Transfer

Pearson Could Secure Celtic Transfer at End of the Season

The midfielder is out of contract at Deepdale in the summer and, with no new deal yet agreed between the player and club, he could leave the Lilywhites for nothing at the end of the current campaign.

It means that he is now eligible to speak to clubs about agreeing on a potential pre-contract agreement and that is exactly what Celtic are hoping to do with the 25-year old, according to Joseph.

The Scottish Premier League side have been in touch with the midfielder about a potential move, which would see them snag the former Manchester United man on a free transfer – a steal considering his current standing at Preston.

Joined Preston From Manchester United

The midfielder joined the Championship side from the Red Devils back in the 2015/16 season as a 20-year-old. He has since established himself as arguably one of the club’s best players, if not the best.

He’s played in nearly 160 games for Preston and has seven goal contributions during that time. Goals and assists though are not his focal points – the player instead is a hard-working, defensive midfield type player, that works tirelessly during games and has an impressive work-rate.

Highly Regarded At Preston

His tackling and physicality cannot be understated, while he also possesses a tremendous passing range and ability to control the game and also slow things down if needs be for the club. There’s no doubt Pearson is talented and is also highly regarded at Preston.

If the player does complete a move to Celtic on a free – a pre-contract meaning he would join at the end of his current deal for nothing – then the SPL side have certainly got themselves a steal of a transfer in Ben Pearson.
