Jack Wilshere Currently Training With Bournemouth

Championship side Bournemouth have confirmed that Jack Wilshere is currently training with them. The former Arsenal man’s contract with West Ham United was mutually terminated in October after he admitted he couldn’t face another season sitting on the sidelines with no hope of playing.

Struggling With Injuries

Many will remember when Wilshere was an exciting young prospect at Arsenal. He looked to be a star of the future and seemed supremely talented.

Despite this, the Englishman’s career has been plagued by injuries. He missed the entirety of the 2011/12 season due to injury, and his troubles didn’t go away after that.

After struggling to make an impact in the Gunners’ first-team, Bournemouth signed him on loan in 2016.

An injury-free 2017/18 season back at the Emirates wasn’t enough to save Wilshere’s Arsenal career though, and he joined West Ham in the summer of 2018 on a free transfer.

Unfortunately, he was never able to become a regular in the Hammers’ starting 11, as injuries continued to haunt him. His contract was terminated by mutual consent in October 2020, and he has been without a club since.

By training with Bournemouth, Wilshere hopes to maintain his fitness levels while looking for a new club.

Bournemouth Challenging For The Championship Title

After agonizingly being relegated from the Premier League on the final day of the 2019/20 season, and losing club legend manager Eddie Howe, Bournemouth have had a promising start to their Championship campaign.

They are currently third, five points off top spot, and with a game in hand on those around them.

Moreover, many players have been seemingly rejuvenated in the new season. Asmir Begovic regained his position as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper and has been superb, saving the Cherries countless times. Dominic Solanke has also impressed, scoring eight league goals so far this season, and Sam Surridge looks a promising young talent, having come through the club’s youth system.
