Wolverhampton Wanderers have made an enquiry for Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic, according to Tim Spiers of The Athletic.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Targeting Luka Jovic

Not Required at Madrid

The Serbian striker, despite only joining in 2019, is already surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Jovic was part of a major revamp of the Madrid squad during the 2019 summer transfer window. He made the move to the Spanish capital alongside the likes of Eden Hazard, Eder Militao and Ferland Mendy for a combined €273 million.

However, none of them have gone onto become a major success story during their time at Madrid, with Jovic arguably being the worst of all of them.

The 23-year-old has scored just two goals in 32 appearances under Zinedine Zidane during his time with the club. Only 11 of those appearances have come as a starter, showing how he is valued at the Bernabeu.

As a result, Madrid are looking to offload the former 27-goal Eintracht Frankfurt forward off their wages.

Loan Deal

Wolves are keen to secure the Serbian on a loan deal, but Madrid are keen to see an option to buy be included in the deal.

As a result, this could make it difficult for any agreement to be reached. According to The Athletic, any chance of a transfer happening is already ‘slim’.

However, Jovic is one of several targets that Wolves have in mind. Nuno Espirito Santo is looking for a striker in the January transfer window after Raul Jimenez suffered a fractured skull against Arsenal at The Emirates Stadium. The Mexican is likely to miss the remainder of the season, meaning Wolves will be missing their star striker.

Espirito Santo’s side had been linked with a move for Liverpool striker Divock Origi. However, according to the report, he is unlikely to be making a move to Molineux in January.
