REPORT: Real Madrid Leading the Way for David Alaba

Alaba Madrid

With his contract set to expire in the summer of 2021 at Bayern Munich, David Alaba is destined for a move this summer. According to The Athletic, too, Real Madrid are leading the way for his signature.

The Austrian has been a Bayern player for over a decade but looks set to leave the Bundesliga outfit come the end of the season having reportedly rejected a contract worth up to £200,000 a week.

With his contract coming to an end, the door is open from January to begin negotiations with other clubs on a pre-contract deal. Many clubs will undoubtedly be interested, but, as reported by The Athletic, it is Real Madrid leading the way.

The Signing to Take Real Madrid Back to the Top?

With an ageing squad at his disposal, Zinedine Zidane will be desperate to find the perfect balance between youth and experience this summer. And David Alaba is exactly that. At 28-years-old, the defender holds the expertise needed, whilst still being in his prime.

From a Madrid point of view, the Austrian is the perfect match. Add in the fact that he’ll be a free agent come the summer, and the deal makes sense for all parties.

Alaba, by making the move to Madrid- who are reportedly leading the way-keeps his place at the top of European football, whilst receiving a new challenge.

Sitting second in La Liga as it stands, those in Madrid will be keen to ensure improvement is made this summer- perhaps starting with the signing of Alaba. He, alongside the likes of Sergio Ramos, could propel the La Liga champions back to the top of both European and Spanish football.

There will be plenty of competition for Alaba’s signature, that’s unquestionable, but, as it stands, Real Madrid lead the way according to The Athletic
