Currently Self-Isolating

The 40-year-old has been self-isolating this week in accordance with government guidelines. This is despite Parker himself returning a negative test result.

A statement on the club website read: “The Club can confirm that Scott Parker will not be in the dugout for our home fixture against Southampton on Boxing Day.

“Following a member of his household testing positive for Covid-19, and despite returning a negative result, Scott has been self-isolating this week in accordance with the guidance.

“Matt Wells and Stuart Gray will take charge of the team on Saturday.

“Subject to returning a further negative result, Scott Parker will return to the dugout for our away fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on 30 December”

It could be a huge blow for the Cottagers, who will view the visit of Southampton has the perfect opportunity for three points, despite the Saints’ good form so far this season.

Fulham have won just two of their 14 Premier League games since winning promotion via the Championship play-offs last season,  but they are potentially turning a corner. They have suffered just one defeat in their last five games, which came away in a spirited performance against Manchester City.

Although three of those last five have ended in draws, there are still plenty of positives for Parker and Fulham to take. A brilliant team effort saw them share the spoils with champions Liverpool, in a game which they could have easily have collected three points. Then against Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United, had opportunities and fortune gone their way, the games could have ended very differently.

However, they remain in the bottom three, two points behind Brighton in 17th.
