Jose Mourinho Wins Manager of the Month

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has been named Manager of the Month after going unbeaten in their four Premier League games in November.

The Portuguese saw off competition from Chelsea’s Frank Lampard, David Moyes of West Ham United and Manchester United’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to the award.

Mourinho Wins Manager of the Month

Top of the League

It has been an incredible month for Spurs which has seen them extend their winning run and move to the top of the Premier League.

The London club started the month with a 2-1 win at Brighton & Hove Albion before captain Harry Kane scored a later winner to beat West Bromwich Albion 1-0.

Mourinho’s side then faced a tricky run of fixtures including Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal with a splash of Europa League football in between. To come through unscathed during this run is why Spurs have remained ahead of current champions Liverpool on goal difference.

Against the Citizens, Tottenham produced a Mourinho clinic as they won 2-0 with 34 per cent possession and four shots, compared to City’s 22. They ended the month with a 0-0 draw against Mourinho’s former club Chelsea. Mourinho’s new Tottenham side didn’t stop there as they emphatically beat Arsenal 2-0 in the North London derby to round off an excellent period as they head towards a tricky Christmas period.

Mourinho Credits Team Effort

When presented with the award, the Portuguese manager gave all the credit to his team and staff. He said: “For me, it is not the manager of the month – it is a team of the month.

“I believe it is about us as a team, it’s about the results that we had in November. It’s not about me.

“If we didn’t have three victories and one draw at Stamford Bridge in November, for sure we wouldn’t have any chance to win it.”

The tricky fixtures don’t stop there for Mourinho’s side as they face a slippery Crystal Palace side who are performing above expectations before visiting Anfield in midweek.
