Quick Tips

In December, every team will play once every three or four days. It is always difficult to navigate this busy festive period and this season there is a global pandemic to make matters worse. Hence, the importance of two or three playing options on the bench is absolutely vital. In fact, the importance of team value seems to be less and less important.

Goalkeepers

With Emiliano Martínez not playing this week, a replacement might be needed. Edouard Mendy is a great choice although that blocks one of the three Chelsea picks one can make. Alex McCarthy could be a good option as well. For the brave, Illan Meslier provides a fun option too.
However, one could just keep Martinez for zero points or play the backup keeper if available.

Defenders

The return of Benjamin Mendy seems to have shifted João Cancelo to the bench. It is tough to predict who will start this weekend against Fulham. At the moment, Kyle Walker looks to be the safest to start out of the Manchester City defenders.

Tariq Lamptey returns from suspension this week and could provide attacking points. However, a clean sheet looks unlikely.

Chelsea defenders are doing well this season. So, a double-up of both Ben Chilwell and Reece James is a viable option. With so many fixtures around, Frank Lampard might rotate them from time to time but that is the case with almost every full-back in the Premier League.

Clean sheets might be hard to come by this week. Leicester City have a decent fixture this week against Sheffield United who are really struggling to score goals. However, Leicester’s defensive record off-late is not great as well. Could the Blades get their first win of the season this week?

Midfielders

Kevin De BruyneRaheem SterlingRiyad MahrezFerran Torres and Phil Foden all could do well this week. De Bruyne and Mahrez were both rested in the Champions League so should start. It is tough to say who will take the other attacking spots. This is a massive fixture for FPL managers as Manchester City could easily put four or five goals past Fulham.

With Jack Grealish missing out, a midfielder might be required to bring in. Riyad Mahrez is a great option in a similar price range. The in-form Diogo Jota could be a formidable option as well. He will be against his former side this week and still available at an attractive price. Mohamed Salah as always is a good option.

Bruno Fernandes keeps on producing the points for Manchester United. His away record is absolutely amazing. The Portuguese will be at West Ham United this week. It may not be easy but one should not bet against Bruno.

Chelsea vs Leeds United could be a very entertaining game. Leeds do not change their style against anyone. That could be really risky against a side like Chelsea who have pace and trickery up front. Hakim Ziyech and Mason Mount are both good options.

Heung-min Son had a goal and assist against Arsenal last season. The Gunners are struggling badly and could be there for the taking for Tottenham Hotspur this week.

Strikers

Gabriel Jesus only played for 20 minutes against Porto in the Champions League. He seems to be safe to start. The Brazillian could have a big haul against Fulham this week.

Leicester City fans and FPL owners of Jamie Vardy were disappointed last week as Vardy failed to score. He has another great fixture this week against bottom club Sheffield United. In fact, Vardy scored in this corresponding fixture last season.

Harry Kane has a sensational record against arch-rivals Arsenal with 10 goals in 11 matches. Will Kane continue on that trend against out of form Arsenal?

Timo Werner could have a big haul this week. The style of play of Leeds United could play right into his hands. Leeds conceded a lot of goals before keeping two clean sheets in a row in the last two matches. One could see them concede a few against Frank Lampard‘s side.
