Wycombe Wanderers Sign Josh Knight on Loan

Defensive Reinforcements

Knight will give the Chairboys extra depth in defence.

Wycombe have lacked quality in defence so far this season in the Championship, having conceded 10 goals in just four games. Too add to their woes, Gareth Ainsworth’s side are yet to register a single goal this season in the leaguee.

The 23-year-old spent last season on loan with Peterborough United, for whom he returned to following a successful loan during the 2018/19 campaign.

Knight made 25 appearances in all competitions for the Posh last season, scoring three goals and registering four assists.

Peterborough were Knight’s first time away from Leicester in his career. He had previously only featured for the Foxes’ U23 side during his time at the King Power Stadium.

What Was Said?

Speaking about his new signing to the official Wycombe Wanderers website, Ainsworth said: “Josh is someone we tried to bring in during the summer and I’m really pleased to be able to get the deal done.

“We’ve been keeping tabs on him for some time and he proved he could make the step up into senior football with a really strong loan spell in League One last season.

“He gives us another option in defence and he comes in at an important time as we’re working hard to get the team as strong as possible to make sure we can start picking up points and meeting the standard that’s required to survive in this division.”

Knight is the 13th player to join the Chairboys this window. Gareth Ainsworth has looked to make additions in all departments this season, as he looks to keep his Wycombe side in the Championship after being promoted from League One last season.
