REPORT: RB Leipzig Close to Signing Roma Winger Justin Kluivert on Loan

Justin Kluivert

RB Leipzig are closing in on the signing of Roma winger Justin Kluivert, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The deal is a straight loan for €1.5 million with an option to buy him at the end of the season. Die Rotenbull turned their attentions to the Dutch winger after failing to agree a deal with Atletico Madrid for Thomas Lemar.

It also appears Roma have a replacement lined up in Stephan El Shaarawy. Roma are closing to re-signing the winger on loan from Shanghai Shenhua, according to Romano.

Kluivert Will Join the German Side on a Season-Long Loan

RB Leipzig have been chasing attacking reinforcements this window as they look to sustain a title charge. Kluivert’s arrival boosts their attack options. Julien Naglesmann has been chasing a winger throughout the transfer window.

The Dutchman has struggled to make a sustained impression in Italy since joining from Ajax. A move to RB Leipzig offers him a fresh start and a chance to impress. The deal between the two clubs is a loan, with RB Leipzig having the option to buy him.

Injuries have hampered Kluivert’s time in the Italian capital. Leipzig’s high attacking style should suit him and he could certainly be a smart piece of business. He could make his debut against FC Augsburg after the international break.

With Kluivert heading for the exit, Roma have wasted no time in finding a replacement. Stephan El Shaarawy is closing in on a return to the club from China.

Again, like the Kluivert deal, it is a loan deal. El Shaarawy’s return to Italy offers him the chance to play regularly ahead of the European Champions next year.

El Shaarawy provides some much-needed creativity and width to the Roma team. He is no stranger to the club and he should slot into the team well. His debut will arrive after the international break.
