REPORT: Adrien Silva Close to Completing Leicester City Exit

Adrien Silva

Adrien Silva is closing to leaving Leicester City for Serie A side Sampdoria, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Portuguese midfielder struggled to settle in the East Midlands and is set to join up with Claudio Ranieri in Italy.

Silva has barely featured for Leicester City since his £22 million move from Sporting Lisbon in January 2018.

According to Romano, a deal is close to being finalised. Silva’s arrival will free up former England U21 midfielder Ronaldo Vieira.

Romano confirms Vieira is set to join Hellas Verona, though the details on that deal haven’t been noted.

Silva Will Link Up With Former Leicester Manager Claudio Ranieri

Silva’s departure will likely free up funds for Leicester City. The Portuguese international has failed to impress during his time in the East Midlands having initially missed out on a move to Leicester City by 14 seconds in 2017.

Silva has spent the past season and a half with French giants Monaco but like his time at Leicester, he failed to really make an impression.

A move to Serie A offers a fresh start for the midfielder who will also be looking towards the European Championships next year. Regular football will increase his chances of making Fernando Santos’ Portugal squad. Prior to his move to Leicester in 2018, Silva had spent all his career in Portugal. He enjoyed 11 successful years at Sporting Lisbon.

Should Silva arrive in Serie A, he will join up former Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri. Ranieri’s Sampdoria side have lost both their matches in Serie A so far this season. Silva will slot into the Sampdoria midfield alongside Morten Thorsby.

Silva’s arrival at Sampdoria will spark Ronaldo Vieira’s exit. The talented youngster made the bold step in moving to Italy from Leeds United in 2018.
