Time in Italy

Twenty-three-year-old Paqueta moved to AC Milan from Brazillian side Flamengo in 2019. It was a high-profile move for the youngster, who was also being chased by Paris Saint-Germain at the time.

Having impressed during his three years as a senior player in Brazil, it was widely thought that Milan had landed one of the next big Brazillian stars.

He made his debut for Milan in a 2-0 Coppa Italia win over Sampdoria and then played in the Supercoppa Italiana loss to Juventus four days later.

Paqueta’s first and only goal for the club came in a 3-0 Serie A win against Cagliari.

International Experience

Paqueta is also a full Brazil international having made his debut as a substitute during a friendly against the United States. His first goal for Brazil came in March 2019 in a friendly draw against Panama.

What Can Lucas Paqueta Bring to Lyon?

Despite struggling for a lot of his tenure in Milan (relative to the hype that surrounded the original move from Flamengo), Paqueta has more than enough time to put this right.

At 23, he is still a young player with plenty of time to develop and Lyon will be an excellent place for him to continue that development.

Paqueta’s arrival may also pave the way for Houssem Aouar to leave the club. Premier League side Arsenal have registered heavy interest in the midfielder throughout the transfer window. Fabrizio Romano reports that the Gunners have confirmed to Aouar’s agent that they are still negotiating with Lyon.
