Lazio are close to completing a deal for Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Igli Tare, Lazio sporting director, expects the deal to be sealed in the coming days.

Brazilian Midfielder Andreas Pereira Close to Joining Lazio

Loan Deal

According to Romano, the Brazilian midfielder is to join the Serie A side on loan. However, Lazio do have an option to buy him at the end of his loan.

Lazio are keen on bringing the player to the Italian capital. Manager Simone Inzaghi said of the player: “I like Pereira so much, I think he’d be perfect for us.”

Pereira has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He is yet to make an appearance for United this season, and has not featured for the Red Devils since their Europa League Round of 16 tie against LASK Linz in August.

As a result, he is seeking a move away from Manchester, as he is unlikely to displace the likes of Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes ahead of him.

The Brazilian made 40 appearances in all competitions for United last season, scoring two goals.

A Forgotten Midfielder Looking to Revive His Career in Serie A

Pereira has struggled to make a name for himself throughout his time at Old Trafford. He is yet to set the world alight and stamp his authority on the first-team.

As a result, a move to Serie A could allow the Brazilian to make a name for himself, especially with a Champions League side such as Lazio.

Simone Inzaghi is looking to add Champions League quality to his side ahead of their return to the tournament this year. The 24-year-old could add that, as well as an element of youth – he would be the youngster of Lazio’s midfielders, should he join.
