Dejan Kulusevski Poised for a Big Year Ahead at Juventus

Dejan Kulusevski

Juventus’ rising star, Dejan Kulusevski, impressed during his debut for the reigning Serie A champions. His opening goal paved the way to victory for Juventus as they defeated Sampdoria 3-0 on Sunday. This will likely be the first of many more goals to come from the 20-year-old this season.

The Best Start Possible

The debut for Kulusevski couldn’t have gone any better. He impressed new manager Andrea Pirlo and supporters alike with his goal against Sampdoria. It remains to be seen if he was going to be able to find the goal scoring touch at Juventus as he displayed at Parma last season. This goal answered that question as he tucked it into the bottom corner for an absolutely splendid finish. Now that his first goal is out of the way, he can focus on becoming a consistent contributor.

Consistency Awaits

Kulusevski scored ten goals for Parma last season in Serie A while on loan. This was an impressive goal-scoring record for such a young player. There’s reason to believe he will be able to produce even more goals for Juventus this season. In the last three matchdays of the 2019/20 Serie A season, Kuvlusevski scored in each of Parma’s matches. He’s arrived back to Juventus in very good form. As a result, the goals should continue to come for Kuvlusevski in the weeks to come.

Playing on the right seems to be the best spot for Kulusevski in Juventus’ starting 11. He can be deadly on the wing and deliver more finishes such as the one against Sampdoria. When he cuts onto his left foot he is a dangerous player who can deliver goals and assists. If Juventus sign a striker as a target man, then the Swedish winger could provide a source of scoring opportunities for a striker. He had eight assists while at Parma and can very much be a contributor along with being a goal scorer.

It’s shaping up to be a big season ahead for Kulusevski at Juventus. This could be the year he cements himself as one of the top up and coming wingers in world football. Based on the first match of the season, Pirlo does not seem afraid to play his young talents as Weston McKennie and Gianluca Frabotta were also in the starting 11 against Sampdoria. For this reason, there are going to be more opportunities for Kulusevski to help play a key role in Juventus’ plans this season.
