REPORT: Edin Dzeko to Complete Juventus Move and Arkadiusz Milik to Replace Him

Edin Dzeko

Juventus have agreed a deal to sign striker Edin Dzeko from Roma, with Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik set to replace him. According to Fabrizio Romano, a full agreement has been made between the clubs. It will see the Bosnian end his four-year permanent spell in Rome, where he has scored 96 goals in 183 appearances, plus a further ten in 39 while on loan.

What Juventus Would Be Getting

While Dzeko’s spell with Manchester City at the beginning of the decade was far from a failure, his goal record in Italy is far superior. It’s clear his game is suited to Serie A and this is something that Juventus can capitalise on.

A slight worry for Juventus, though, should be his age. At 34-years-old, Dzeko is certainly not getting any younger. In fact, he is older than the man he is arguably coming in to replace: Gonzalo Higuain. The 32-year-old Argentine is no longer wanted at Juve and is said to be close to a move to MLS side Inter Miami.

It’s clear that Dzeko currently still has the quality to perform at the top level, but there will no doubt be question marks over how much longer he can do it for, and thus whether he is worth the investment.

Milik to Replace Dzeko

Roma have moved fast to bring in their replacement for Dzeko, reportedly agreeing a deal with Napoli to sign Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik.

The 26-year-old made a total of 35 appearances in all competitions for Napoli last season, scoring 14 goals.

It’s five less than the total managed by Dzeko, but he did make eight fewer outings.

Roma clearly don’t want to move too far away from their current playing style, as both Milik and Dzeko fit a similar profile: tall, physical strikers that have the ability to dominate defences.
