REPORT: Chelsea Could Complete Kai Havertz Deal by the End of the Week

Chelsea Havertz

Having already confirmed four major signings this summer, Chelsea and manager Frank Lampard are close to finally completing the big one. That is, of course, Kai Havertz, and according to The Guardian, Chelsea could complete the move by the end of the week.

Chelsea Could Complete Kai Havertz Deal Soon

Most Expensive German of All Time

As soon as he seals his move, Havertz will become the most expensive signing from his country, surpassing the £55m Bayern Munich forked out on Leroy Sané earlier this summer.

Leverkusen will reportedly receive an initial fee of around £80 million, which could rise to £100 million based on performance-based add-ons. With this price comes lots of expectations for Havertz to fit in very nicely at his new club.

However, Lampard will certainly not rush him as a move to a foreign country at such a young age isn’t always easy. Much like he did with Christian Pulisic last season, the Blues boss will look to integrate him into the team.

Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia has done her bit; now it’s time for Havertz to do his.

Another Young Star for Lampard’s Revolution

This summer, we have seen two established Chelsea players of the past leave in Willian and Pedro. The two ageing wingers were not going to be starters this season, far from it, and they are simply not needed at Stamford Bridge anymore.

Havertz joins an attack that has just gained Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, and one that already has Pulisic, Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, and Callum Hudson-Odoi. All of these players, except for Ziyech (27), are 24 and under, which goes to show just how bright of a future Chelsea have ahead of them.

The midfield, which Havertz will also be a part of, also contains young gems such as Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Billy Gilmour, as well as experienced regulars Mateo Kovačić and N’Golo Kanté.

The defence and goalkeeping positions are where the biggest problem lies, but the Blues have just signed Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva, as well as Malang Sarr (who will go out on loan next season. They have also picked up Xavier Mbuyamba on a free, but he will join the academy squad for now.

Replacing Kepa Arrizabalaga is still an area of concern, one which Lampard will look to rectify, but regardless, Lampard’s youth revolution is gathering steam. As he improves as a manager, his players will improve as well, and when they are all in their prime it will be a scary time indeed.

For now, though, Havertz seems to be arriving imminently, and he could be a Chelsea player by the end of the week.
