REPORT: Watford Striker Troy Deeney Linked with West Bromwich Albion

Troy Deeney

West Bromwich Albion are considering making a move for Watford captain Troy Deeney, according to John Percy of the Telegraph.

Deeney appears to be edging away from Watford in order to secure a move back to the Premier League this summer. His representatives have been searching for a new club for the 32-year-old following Watford’s relegation to the Championship.

Troy Deeney Could Move to West Bromwich Albion

Deeney to West Brom

West Brom reportedly want to bring Deeney in on a loan deal. Slaven Bilic is keen to add further experience to his squad in preparation for next season.

However, West Borm are operating with a restricted transfer budget which could impact the chances of signing Deeney. The 32-year-old striker has one of the highest wages at Watford currently, so a loan deal would be more likely at this stage.

Deeney to Depart Watford

After ten years with the Hornets, Deeney looks set to depart Vicarage Road. A potential overhaul may be imminent at Watford, with a further focus on younger prospects coming through. This could lead to Deeney’s potential exit from the club as the Watford hierarchy prepare to develop under new boss Vladimir Ivic.

It would mark the end of an era for Deeney and Watford. The striker joined the club from Walsall in 2011 and went on to make nearly 400 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring over 130 goals.

West Brom Hoping for Signings

Slaven Bilic will be desperate to get more signings over the line with two weeks left until the new Premier League season.

The Baggies have only signed Matheus Pereira so far this summer. They look set to miss out on Ollie Watkins and are struggling to tie down Filip Krovinovic to a permanent deal from Benfica.

West Brom has also been linked with Brighton and Hove Albion defender Shane Duffy and goalkeeper David Brutton, also from Brighton.
