Dele Alli Spurred on by Jose Mourinho’s ‘Lazy’ Blast

Jose Mourinho’s ‘lazy’ blast raised eyebrows but it seems it has Dele Alli spurred on to improve his game under the Portuguese manager at Tottenham Hotspur. The comments from Jose Mourinho have been revealed after pre-screenings of Amazon’s documentary ‘All or Nothing’ were shown to the media, including football.london.

Dele Alli Responds to ‘Lazy’ Comments

Spurs Midfielder Looking to Push on

The Amazon documentary series begins on Amazon Prime Video on Monday, August 31. The cameras followed Tottenham Hotspur, and a standout conversation was one between the England midfielder and Jose Mourinho. Mourinho does not hold back and refers to Alli as ‘lazy’ and questions the players’ lifestyle.

Some may have expected a terse reaction from Alli but the player spoke candidly at a question and answer session about the upcoming documentary and appears to have been spurred on by the incident.

“Sometimes it can be difficult to take, but you realise that it’s not a negative conversation. As he said in some of the clips he’s saying it to help and I know that, I am not silly.

“It is something that stays with you. Watching it back I obviously remember it a lot more. By now I still remember the whole conversation. It comes from a good place. It gives you something to work towards and open your eyes a little bit.”

The Maturing of Dele Alli

Dele Alli started his Spurs’ career in style and won many deserved plaudits. His form since has dropped off and Jose Mourinho has never been a manager to hold back in his criticism of star players.

Dele Alli’s response shows a maturity that he now needs to take out on the pitch and get back to playing at the very top of his game. Mourinho has fuelled the players’ fire and Dele Alli must now deliver and show the footballing world that ‘lazy’ is not a word to be associated with him any longer.
